I'm conducting interviews at work again this week, which always makes for interesting interactions. Every candidate is different and there's no guaranteed method for figuring out which ones will work best with the company. It boils down to our specific needs at the time and whether or not the candidate aligns with that - or somehow surprises us and helps us realize we needed them all along. It's a fun process but still quite a draining one given the time and effort needed to learn as much as you can within the framework of an interview.
On the board game front, our add-ons for recent Tiny Epic Kickstarter projects have arrived ahead of the games they were attached to, which is weird. I appreciate their effort to get the add-ons to us as soon as possible, but that means I have to additional post office fees for the usual "inspection" process all parcels have to go through - at least when the publisher doesn't leverage the likes of VFI to handle last-mile fulfillment. So while the actual new games haven't arrived, we now have the Quest for the Golden Mushrooms mini-expansion for Tiny Epic Quest, the Kickstarter upgrades for Tiny Epic Western, the Stories expansion for Tiny Epic Dungeon, and Tiny Epic Tactics including the Maps Expansion.
As for books, I'm already on the 5th book of Scalzi's Old Man's War series of novels. It has been quite an entertaining ride that shares obvious roots with the likes of Starship Troopers and thus feels similar to The Expanse and yet remains distinct enough to be its own take on the genre. I hope the remaining books in the series go as well as the others - plus there's talk of additions to the series planned in the near future. It's fun to have continuing series of books to follow as many of my favorite authors are not in a position to continue contributing to their franchises.
And lastly, I randomly discovered that I had missed out on processing 4 O Bar videos from 2018 for one reason or another. I always have a bit of queue to manage in terms of all the content I've captured/documented during our O Bar nights but this is at least the second time I've ever missed an entire batch like this. To be fair, I didn't take as many videos back then, so that sort of made it a little easier to miss out. I got them processed quickly enough and it was nice to see these older O Bar performances again. They've all come such a long way.
