I'm pretty beat more because we gamed all of Saturday night and then I had to wake up early for our bi-weekly family book club meeting. It's already quite late, so let's get through this quickly.
It's good that we were able to arrange for a game night on Saturday given the lack of other plans for the weekend. It's always harder to coordinate social activities during long weekends like this so any activity is a good thing. Plus we were even joined by a neighbor, so we had a table of four players for a while.
We had started with Cascadia as our opening game and it remains a delight. It was also an effort to help push our guest a bit in terms of gaming challenge as he gets further into the hobby. Then we had our table of 4 assembled ended up with some solid games like Ra, Namijia and the newer Cubemelt.
Then we scaled things back a bit and went through a variety of quicker games. Thus we brought out local gems like Darna at Ang Nawawalang Bato and Espionage: The Card Game. Then we wrapped things up with the crazy Batman Fluxx, an engaging Unlock! Short Adventure, and finally Point Salad. "Training" game nights like this tend to involve more games since we tap into the lighter part of our catalog, which does well for our overall play count stats.
I woke up in time for book club and we wrapped up our discussion of Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop. But I'm more interested in the fact that our next book is going to be The Dark Forest, which is the second book in The Three-Body Problem series. The first book had been a book club title previously and thus marks the first time we're continuing a series within the context of the family club.
Then I had a foot spa appointment after that and that proceeded without incident. I'm glad that the spa I go to also has a branch near where we're moving next year, so I'll continue to get to enjoy their pampering or whatever you want to call the sanding of my feet. Tobie joined me after that and we had to figure out where to have lunch given the queue at Tang was kinda crazy despite it being a Sunday.
We ended up at One Bonifacio where I finally got to introduce Tobie to the Mala Tang experience, even though the service quality at the food court wasn't the best. It had been drizzling right after my foot spa appointment, so we ended up parking at the mall for a bit. After a quick dessert, we spent most of our time at the Gaming Library branch there and picked up Sea Salt & Paper along with the Wyrmspan Upgrade Pack. The bonus was being able to examine some Alpaka products in person and I now feel a lot more confident about the pouch I'm hoping to get as Tobie's wallet replacement.
Beyond that, I've been mainly reading the book club book along with The Ghost Brigades, which is the next novel in Scalzi's Old Man War series. Tobie has been playing a lot of Project Zomboid. And we watched another episode of Alchemy of Souls during our SaladStop! delivery dinner.
That's all she wrote for today. I'm going to wrap up for the night and get as much sleep as I can - provided my body lets me sleep for more than 6 hours.
