02DB1: Holiday Geekery

Thursday - Tang Bossam

Happy Halloween, everyone! And Happy Deepavali for those who celebrate that as well.

It has been a pretty relaxed but sufficiently geeky holiday off from work. Last night we resumed playing through the campaign for Batman: Everybody Lies. We had played through the prologue back in April and the nearly 6-month gap was felt because we were terrible in our final report. We got to the end and had answers that were just on the edge of being right but still weren't right. Rough experience! We have two more cases left and I hope we do better.

We were still tired from work and called it a night pretty early. We tried to sleep in a bit this morning and just lazed in bed as Tobie tinkered with his iPad and I aggressively tried to finish the last book in the Great Schools of Dune trilogy of titles.

Interestingly enough, a friend reached out to check if we were free to game since he had the afternoon off, so that gave us something to do. Board Game Arena is a blessing to board gamers who want to play instantly without the need to travel. We had a full afternoon of gaming that included Caverna, Middle Ages, and Tapestry and we each won one of the games played today. That's something.

After gaming, we used the time to catch up with the season finale for Agatha All Along. With this show now over along with others like Only Murders in the Building...Disney+ no longer feels quite as urgent to keep. This thought only comes to mind as our annual subscription is approaching its renewal period. The Mouse has more than doubled the subscription costs for all tiers and, and that's rather painful. It certainly voids whatever savings we managed by getting an annual subscription versus a monthly one. As much as we enjoy Disney+ content while it's there, I don't know if we can just keep in going on without sufficient shows to justify it. So I think we're going to pause our subscription for now and stick to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video until there are enough shows for us to want to catch up on all at once within the span of a month or something.

Anyway, despite the temptation to go to O Bar night, we opted for a hearty dinner at Tang and then we're just chilling at home again. It has been a good day.

I still have work tomorrow, so we can't stay up too late - or at least I can't. But at least we've managed to pencil in another possible game night tomorrow to support the one we had set for Saturday.
