I'm going to stop bothering everyone with updates on whether or not I've purchased a new Kindle because I've finally purchased a Kindle Oasis tonight. Yes, I still went for the older Kindle model because it's 50% off despite its feature set. Yes, I'm aware that the international model only comes with 8GB storage, but that's still a lot when it comes to books. But I skipped out on getting cases directly from Amazon since they seem to be mostly third-party cases that probably came from China - so I ordered two different cases from Lazada instead, which saved me a bit. The estimated delivery date is the 1st of November, but sometimes I get lucky with Amazon orders and they end up coming a few days earlier. But then I'll definitely be in Manila and I'll only talk about this again once it arrives.
Now the other thing I'm thinking about is a replacement wallet as mine and Tobie's are falling apart. But in my case, I think I want to go with a card wallet more than a conventional bifold, but I'm not sure what to get just yet. I'm not in this for luxury reasons, so I'm going to skip the very premium brands. Function is going to be the most important part of all this and I'm hoping to find a card wallet that doesn't have me popping out all of my cards every time I make a purchase. Admittedly I have not experimented enough with things like this, so I'm not very familiar with how different brands handle card storage and access. Next project!
Given it's the weekend, I got to spend the whole day with the nephews. And it was...a lot. At least we got through the day without any injuries or other untoward accidents, so I suppose that's generally a win. But that's a very low bar.
It was a very interesting day as a whole as juggling two young boys is an experience in itself. Things can go peaceful for long stretches of time and then suddenly the wrong thing will set them off and then an argument will ensue. And by argument, I really mean someone shouting "It's mine!" as a basis for staking a claim on whatever object of interest is at the center of the dispute. Thus the day had me playing the role of referee or butler, depending on what was needed. And kids can be very demanding.
Despite never leaving the unit, I'm pretty tired. I guess it's the need to be extra alert the whole time is what is most draining. I lost count of how many times I reminded them to be careful or to say please when asking for something. Maybe my worrying nature is what ultimately tired me out, but I have no regrets. We still had fun and avoided toilet accidents. We actually got to watch a few shows together but I also got to get a fair amount of reading done as well.
All in all, it was a good Saturday.
