I'm going to do my best to avoid ordering takeout while Tobie's away, but it's going to be a bit of a challenge. Like this video going around social now, I'm repeatedly torn between wanting to cook because it's prudent and more cost-effective versus ordering out, which is easier and faster. Cooking is not quite as fulfilling since Tobie isn't home and I'm more used to cooking larger batches of food for us to share. Ordering out also isn't fun since getting a meal for one person doesn't always feel like it's worth the delivery fee. Plus it's more fun to order things to share with Tobie...which is not an option for now.
So expect a lot of lazy meals this week, I guess. I tried to plan accordingly like how I had purchased this bangus-in-a-jar as a quick protein option, then I just added sides to it. My other meal options include fish sausages (also made from bangus, I think) and some frozen things I can cook. I suspect I'll end up ordering out during my workday since my schedule is kinda crazy this week. But I'll do my very best to avoid doing so...just for the principle of things.
In other news, my Kindle is....frozen. It was working fine this morning but towards the end of the work day I noticed that it was on the default Kindle screen - the one you see when you reboot the device. I've gone through all the usual troubleshooting steps and have progressed to contacting Amazon support. After charging the device for an hour, it's still frozen and Amazon can only offer 15% off my next Kindle purchase, which is helpful but still sad.
I've already started browsing options and it looks like only the basic Kindle and the Oasis models have international version that can ship directly to the Philippines. What's missing is the Kindle Paperwhite, which is the model right in-between these other options. Even just the list price of the Oasis seems to match what Paperwhites are going for on Lazada, so maybe it's not a bad idea to go for the bigger Kindle. But...it's also a bigger Kindle and the Paperwhite really is just the perfect size.
Or maybe I should just wait for my Singapore trip next month and try to get a device there? I have no idea of it'll be any cheaper there versus here. We'll how it goes. I just really hate not having a Kindle.
My last-ditch effort is to leave the Kindle a long for a while and see if the battery will drain (the screen appears to be on despite being stuck on the opening screen) and maybe it'll be better after that kind of a full drain-and-restart. I'm not exactly holding my breath.
