As much as I figured that we'd spend all of last night playing board games, things didn't go quite as expected there either. We did learn how to play Ra and played two quick rounds, but ended up getting a massage to boot. Given my recent back pains, it certainly helped me feel better. And we still had enough mental fortitude to learn how to play Harmonies via Board Game Arena afterward. We even played some Takenokolor - both games are cute enough, but we might be content with just playing these digitally.
I squeezed in a foot spa this afternoon to get my toenails under control. Things went quickly enough for me to get back in time for a good lunch and then our afternoon Horror on the Orient Express game. This was our first session for this campaign since January and we had to deal with the long time away and the change in our player roster. It felt a little tricky to jump right back into the game as I was feeling my way around my character and trying to resituate myself with the story. The exit of one of the players was certainly felt and it left me feeling a bit somber throughout the session. Tobie had mapped out a way to smoothen things a bit toward the end of the session and I think it went as well as could be expected. At least all of our campaigns are back on track.
Lousy weather tonight but at least it's not a typhoon, as far as I can tell. The rain got pretty intense right after the game, but I'm glad that we didn't lose power. There were some close moments when the rain was intense enough to bring visibility down to zero. It also seemed like one of the lightning bolts may have knocked out power in another block for a bit - at least that's what it looked like when things got really dark outside. At least things have settled down at this point. Hopefully we'll just have cooler weather with the excess precipitation.
