02D7E: Dice Dilemma

Tuesday - Sashimi

Apart from my usual reports and media plan consultations, a better part of my day was taken up by Recruitment-related activities. We just posted job ads for an HR role and we got a crazy amount of applicants on the first day. I'm used to pulling teeth when it comes to getting applicants for our creative roles, but this is bananas. I had anticipated getting more applicants because it's a more common role, but this is a bonkers first day. I tried to tweak the wording of the ad to further stress our experience preferences in the hopes of dissuading more fresh grads from applying, but it is what it is.

Now you can ignore this next part if you don't care about tabletop RPGs.

There's a Kickstarter for the Ruins and Expeditions expansion for the Root RPG. As much as we've only tried out this system once, I do love it because I love the Root franchise as a whole. It's a pretty solid game and I really need to take the time to explore it more and maybe get around to a mini-campaign at the very least. So I'm definitely backing this project because I want to get the book. As much as I'm generally fine with PDFs, I had already gotten the physical rewards for the core book release, so I feel obliged to get the physical rewards for this one as well. That's not too bad.

The bigger challenge is that they've announced a unique add-on for this campaign - special Root-specific dice created in partnership by FanRoll. They're rather expensive for dice, but each resin die consists of the matching faction meeple inside translucent resin with custom dice pips to match the faction. There are 10 different factions so there are ten sets of dice up for grabs and they're not cheap. It's crazily indulgent to try to get all 10...but they're also adorable. And as someone who really loves Root...I may just end up getting them.

The Kickstarter ends on 4 October, so I have until to decide whether or not I'm going to get any of the dice sets as part of my pledge. But...I have my finger on it for now.
