02D74: More Birthday Gaming

Saturday - Terminus

Last night's game night didn't start out as early as hoped, but we still got a lot of decent gaming in. And clearly, everyone needed a break after how their Friday shifts ended and we were more than happy to host.

We kicked off the evening with Earth, which scratches an itch similar to games like Terraforming Mars but doesn't involve quite as much setup and rules reminders. Then we went lighter with Let's Go to Japan! and Spots, which go by quickly but are no less fun. Ass our numbers began to dwindle, we picked up our exploration of the campaign game for The Initiative and got through another three missions full of tricky puzzles, ciphers, and other coded messages. Our final game for the night was Three Sisters because this home farming roll-and-write game is quite the favorite.

When it was just me and Tobie left, we had tried setting up a learning game for Terminus, but we were too tired to actually play through. So we went to bed and woke up around lunch and finally sat down to learn the game. It was quite tricky and feels like it has a lot more in common with the big board games designed by Vital Lacerda.

We ended up getting a late lunch at Tang because the food is awesome and I had a few errands to run while I was out. I dropped by the nearby Lush to see if the birthday offer they had emailed was real and of course, the store staff had no idea what the email was about. I still got a shampoo sample out of the deal, but that was it. At least we had a pretty hearty walk around the block to round out the experience.

Now we're just trying to gather our energies for the big O Bar celebration tonight. We know there are going to be a LOT of people there tonight and so we'll need to be extra patient. But it'll all be worth it as it means a very great show and a lot of friends both on stage and at the bar are going to help make the night all the more memorable.
