I'm glad that I've been able to keep up with my walking here in Singapore. In past trips, I'd content myself with mainly pacing the unit to complete my step goal for the night. That's a largely pandemic-related behavior that I've really developed in order to continue to hit my 12k daily step goal despite the lockdowns. But I was pretty determined to at least walk along the river this trip and I've been sticking to it. I had some near-misses given the mercurial weather but I guess I'm luckier than expected. Maybe it's a weird sign that the walking (and maybe eventual jogging) was really needed for this time.
The walking is great because I get to listen to an audiobook - and I really need dedicated audiobook time. It also lets me zone out and just think while I continue to ponder the surprise crime in The Scottish Ladies' Detective Agency similar to how some people come up with ideas in the shower. It helps that I've been walking pretty much the same route over and over again the past few days, which is building some pretty good muscle memory that frees up my brain for other things.
And tonight was a good night for a very long walk given a very hearty dinner and a lot to process. Blogging is still my main way of organizing my thoughts at the end of the day and that's not going to change. But the walking helps for other things - especially stuff that I can't write about in public.
