Happy 59th birthday, Singapore! And this National Day long weekend has started with a day pretty much centered on my nephews. Well, that and a good amount of reading, which is a gift in itself.
I still woke up as if it were a work day given the older nephew felt it was time to use me as playground equipment. I didn't get a full interrogation this morning - we went straight into playing even before I could properly get out of bed. And that set the tone for the morning I suppose with the boys taking turns burying me in stuffed animals, climbing onto my shoulders, jumping onto me, and whatever else they could think of.
And as my sister's helpers had the day off, it was up to us to wrangle the boys for the bulk of the day. This made for a very interesting lunch out, to say the least. The food was good, but keeping the boys focused on the meal was the real struggle, as anyone with two young boys would know. But our main planned distraction for the day was to bring them to the recently opened branch of Kiztopia to see if it's worth future afternoon plans with the boys.
I managed to get a ridiculous amount of steps at the indoor playground just by chasing the boys around and making sure they didn't get into any fights with any of the other kids. And it's not like they're particularly belligerent or anything - they're just two young boys. And playground misunderstandings are highly likely, especially with everyone running around like nuts and the need to share coming up time and time again. We had no major incidents at least, but there were more than a few tense moments. And it was a very fun afternoon overall.
We ended the night with a very unhealthy dinner and catching the last of the National Day program on CNA. And as the boys were put to bed, I stepped out to walk a few rounds up and down the river and to clear the rest of my step goal for the day.
I have no plans for the rest of the night, which is typical when I'm in Singapore. But at least I can steal a few online games with Tobie and maybe process some O Bar videos.
Happy long weekend!
