I'm almost fully ready for my flight in the morning - all that's really left is to pack my bags. The last few things that I had to settle included little things like topping up my Singapore prepaid SIM so that I have access to data outside of the airport and such.
The bigger thing for today was picking up my laptop from the service center. I had to bring it in since more and more keys were no longer functioning and it turned out that they needed to replace the entire upper portion of the keyboard or something. The greater delay was waiting for the needed parts and this whole time I've been making do with one of the previously-issued work laptops that happens to be with me. But now it's back and it feels as good as new and all is right in the world.
Aside: it's rather surprising to me how quickly I'm able to set up a computer from zero. Transfer tools and cloud sync options have really come a long way. With a few logins here and there, I have access to pretty much all of my digital life down to my wallpaper and lock screen choices for this computer. It took longer to subject it to another factory reset to clear whatever the Lenovo techs did because I'm a little paranoid that way. Now I just need to re-adjust to having a larger screen and a different keyboard layout. I've been working with a much smaller monitor for too long.
The other weird thing for the day was the fact that my mom had arranged for me and Tobie to get flu shots as part of their company wellness program. This isn't the first time we've done this, but I guess the timing is less than ideal given I'm getting on a plane in a few hours. There haven't been any serious side effects at this point - just a heaviness in that arm and some degree of sensitivity around the injection point.
I need to stop lingering with this blog post and figure out the rest of my life.
