02D4B: PICOF/O Bar Weekend

Sunday - PICOF 2024 with Pol Medina, Jr.

We (barely?) survived our crazy weekend that involved an O Bar night last night followed by a full day at PICOF today.

O Bar was a lot of fun. It was the joint birthday show of two of the O2Men - the fabulous lesbian singers who perform on Thursdays and Fridays. This spotlight on them meant a very unique show involving a living band and them singing through practically every other number. There we still a good number of drag performances, but on the whole, it was still a night about singing, and that was great.

In order to stand a better chance of surviving another full day at PICOF, we opted to limit our table to just one bottle of vodka and try to leave after giving tips. It meant a "tighter" ship for the night and even me and Tobie hydrating heavily and watering down our drinks, but we managed to get out nust as the third set was starting.

Getting up barely three hours later was quite the struggle and there was a moment when I was tempted to sleep in as Tobie had offered. But as he was also struggling to get going, it only made sense that we'd dive back into PICOF together to help support one another. I'm glad that we did push through with the full day. It required a significant amount of caffeine but we got to meet a lot of friends old and new, sold a lot of copies of Tobie's new comic, and I also bought way too many comics than I probably should have in my excitement to support all these amazing local creators. And we still got home safely despite our brains probably running on fumes.

We should try to sleep a bit earlier tonight and then get back into our regular groove by tomorrow. Big thanks to everyone who showed their support for Tobie this weekend!
