02D48: Old Crewmates

Thursday - Quick Lunch

There's a work project that I've had on the back burner to some degree in favor of more urgent items. But today I attended a webinar that was a strong reminder of its continued importance and I've started to map out how I'm going to tackle that alongside everything else. Many things are still in motion and I'll continue to oversee them to their eventual completion. But I really need to get some serious work done for this one. I know how I'm going to start, but it is going to involve a lot of detailed work tomorrow. And that's just the bit related to figuring out the overall scale of things and an initial list of to-dos. There's a lot that needs to get done, but I also want to be smart about things - measure twice, cut once and all that.

In light news, our enjoyment of the second season of Star Trek: Prodigy has rekindled my love for Star Trek: Voyager. And it's not like I had fallen out of love with that particular part of the larger Star Trek franchise, but the animated series just has me really missing that particular set of characters. And I'm making the most of things by exploring the related books that follow the characters outside of the show. I had finished the String Theory trilogy of books even before season 2 dropped. And this week I've blitzed through Homecoming and am working steadily through The Farther Shore - a duology of books that cover the (non-canon) events immediately after the end of the original show. It's pretty compelling stuff, although there are still way too many characters to juggle. But it's still enjoyable reading.

So yeah, between the cartoon and the books, I'm getting a lot of Voyager-related feels this week and I'm all here for it. While I'll always respect the story that DS9 managed to tell, Voyager will always be very close to my heart for many other reasons that go beyond the show itself.
