02D11: Friday Drain Day

Friday - Holiday Inn Slowcooked Sea Bass

We finished our quarterly leadership workshop today and I think we were all pretty brain-tired by the end of things. And while the day was largely focused on a particular topic, there's just so much depth to things, and all the while we're trying to figure out how to apply what we're learning to the business as soon as possible in order to make the most of things.

There's always the struggle between getting things done quickly and getting them done right, if there is such a thing. We've all heard the line about how perfection is the enemy of good and sometimes we just need to take the leap. But at the same time, there are still certain things that need to be addressed first even if everything else isn't quite in place yet. We'll try to cover as much ground as we can sooner in order to pave the way as best as we can. In the end, we want to continue to foster an environment that brings out the best in our team. It's just a question of figuring out what needs to be done given the evolving needs of the workforce.

Beyond that, our session ended early enough to catch the nephews before their bedtime. Today's activities included one leading me around and forcing me to walk backward wherever he steered me and the young one using me as a jungle gym. There's also a Stories post that has me balancing on my toes because I stooped down to check on the older one and he proceeded to climb into my lap as he continued to watch TV. It was adorable but was still essentially a weighted squat or some sort of a yoga pose that hasn't been named yet.

Kids are a workout in themselves.

It has been raining since I got here and I'm not sure what kind of activities we'll be able to slot for the weekend. I have no immediate plans of going out or anything like that and we'll probably just go places to tire the boys out as keeping them cooped up all day probably isn't a good idea for our sanity.

I think I'm going to spend the rest of tonight reading. I may just nod off because I've been waking up earlier thanks to nephews acting as human alarm clocks. Everyone wants to play with Uncle at some point and I know I can't deny them while I'm here.
