02CC2: Philippine Drag Magic

Sunday Philippine Drag Queens

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 1198

Last night's O Bar Pride Party was amazing, as always. O Bar always puts on a GREAT show, but it's always great in a different way from the year before. That's the O Bar magic - constantly innovating and challenging their cast of drag artists and performers to be their best selves each and every night. And as much as I always tell people that any O Bar night is going to be great given the stringent standards the bar maintains in terms of the quality of their shows, event nights do tend to turn things up to eleven somehow.

Last night's show was, especially given they had some 35 drag queens performing last night. Their invited guest performers not only included Drag Race Philippines Season 1 winner Precious Paula Nicole but also included queens from across the country, namely Baguio, Bacolod, Cebu, and Davao. This was an amazing representation effort to feature drag from different parts of the country all on a single stage. Just considering all the logistics needed to put a show like this together more than boggles the mind.

I'm glad that we got to attend this event despite our busy schedules. Tobie had just gotten back from Europe last week and tomorrow we're off to Taiwan. This is truly a year of travel for us and we're only halfway through. But you know me - I need to go to O Bar right before any trip and I'll want to go back shortly after we return home.  There's home, and there's home.

So wish us luck in Taiwan! We've never been there before and we don't have a fixed agenda of what we're going to do, so we may end up just winging it and exploring openly and earnestly. But if you have other recommendations, feel free to let us know directly!
