02C9E: Double Event Survivor

Saturday - Bench & The O Boys of O Bar

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 1162

As foreshadowed, last night was a LOT, but we got through things okay. I had to hope from event to event, but it was all worth it.

I'm glad that a good number of people from work got to attend last night's in-person meet-up. After shifting to a full Work From Anywhere model (100% remote work) locally, we don't get to see each other in person a lot. Things like Google Meet calls and of course, the company Gather Town virtual office go a long way to help everyone feel a bit more connected, but that can only do so much. So these in-person meets are pretty important to me from an Operations perspective - plus it's fun to watch the team interact because they're a crazy crew.

Getting to O Bar from BGC was surprisingly terrible. We took C5, which is our normal route, but this turned out to be a mistake. There's extensive work being done on C5 in the Pasig area apparently, but this has resulted in a backlog of traffic up and down the highway. We got there before the show, but it was a stressful experience overall.

O Bar itself was great. We had some new faces at the table (as is often the case with the kind of people that Tobie ropes in) but still a fun experience overall. The show was fun (of course!) but there were some innovations for some numbers that were really impactful. But that's just the magic of O Bar and the kind of performance quality that they bring to the stage every single night.

But now it's time to get ready for today's FGTC board game night. And that's a different kind of fun.
