02C96: Working From Home Alone

Friday Keto Stir Fry

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 1154

With Tobie in Cebu for a conference, my day started alone. That in itself was a bit of a hurdle for me since I always get nervous about waking up on time without Tobie's help. Instead, I added a few more alarms to our Google Home speaker in addition to those on my phone. But I got up on time and only 30ish minutes after Tobie had messaged me that he was already awake.

The first weird thing that I did today - I tried to learn a dance. We could argue that this is a TikTok dance, but it's actually choreography from an episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel that had aired some two years ago but went viral recently. My TikTok feed has been rather inundated with different people dancing the dance and this morning I stumbled on some tap dancing teacher that had posted a 2-part tutorial of the core steps. I don't know why I thought this was something for me to try, but I just did it and this became my pre-workout before my usual morning yoga.

To be fair, I haven't exactly mastered it as the footwork is rather complicated. But I think I got the basic principles down.

I had a full workday ahead with a good number of meetings. Thankfully some of those meetings left my calendar and that gave me more free time. By the end of the day, I had inadvertently finished reading The Good Jobs Strategy, which is my current business book. I say inadvertently because my Kindle reported that I had a good 30% left to go in terms of page, but as those were mostly the final acknowledgments and all the references, it tagged the book as done once I had reached the last meaty bit.

I tried ordering from somewhere new for dinner - a place that promised to have a keto-friendly sushi bake (I know how annoying this term is) using shirataki rice. It felt like a decent experiment and the prices were similar to what I get from Guilt Free, but I think it's not the best value unless you really just want the sushi bake experience. But it at least made for a fun little dinner experience that was different from the usual.

And now I'm wrapping up the 4-part Netflix documentary on Madoff (terrible stuff, really) while mapping out the rest of the night. I have no shortage of things to read at least and I have a longer game night planned for tomorrow, so that'll be good.

No, I'm not posting a video of me trying to dance that dance just yet.
