02C2C: Thursday TV Things

Thursday Baked Meats

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 1048

Today was the finale of Drag Den, the very local alternative to Drag Race Philippines, which is the local counterpart of RuPaul's Drag Race. It was a very different television experience that really leaned into the local love for pageant culture and I super appreciated that. And while it certainly has a lot of room to grow as a series, it did a lot of amazing things including making sure to give credit to the designers whose work the queens work on stage and other fun bits.

My brain kind of slowed down tonight and what should have been a quick blogging session has stretched for much longer than planned. I'm sure one factor is how we have Undone playing on TV right now and the series is quite visually striking and narratively trippy. It feels like a TV series that is achieving what things like Waking Life hoped to accomplish back in the day.

I want to work on more O Bar videos or at least play a board game or something. Gah brain.

I also finally finished reading Zaturnnah Sa Kalakhang Maynila after forever. It's a great book but a lot heavier than the first one and that certainly has me feeling many thoughts. I'm engaging with a lot of rather introspective content as of late for one reason or another. What's going on with you, fiction?
