02BE8: Last Reading Sprint

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 992

Welcome to December! And today is also World AIDS Day. For the longest time, the Metro Manila Pride march would be held on the first Saturday of December to be as close to World AIDS Day. It has since moved back to June, to be closer to the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. But the start of December always inspires FEELS, if you know what I mean.

With the end of the year closer than ever, I've been making a serious effort to up my reading pace and I think I have a good enough strategy in mind. And while I'm still working through a long series of Star Trek books, I'm also cycling in more Doctor Who Target books along with particular comic volumes (not omnibuses) that I think I'll be able to work through. My last hurrah will definitely be over the course of the holidays between my family's trip and the one with Tobie's family. I don't want to be a total shut-in though, so I'll have to balance things well.

I've read 298 titles thus far and I need at least 36 67 more in order to hit my 365 title goal. It's a lot...but not necessarily impossible? I don't want to resort to Free Comic Book Day Titles, which is one of the rare cases when I count individual issues as read since they don't typically get compiled into a trade paperback volume. But I'll keep that as an energy option if things really get tight toward the end.

This has been a weird year for reading for one reason or another. Maybe I've been playing too many mobile games. Or maybe I've been reading things that take more brain power and thus I don't get to blitz through as quickly. But one thing is clear - I don't want to feel this pressured at the end of the year next time around. I don't think I should lower my reading goal just yet, but that's an option. It depends on how things go this year, I guess.
