02B83: New Normal Birthday Constraints

Monday Pasta

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 891

Sietch Health Update - no official fevers still, but some ups and downs here and there. Tobie and I have been taking turns coughing up bits of phlegm occasionally, but it's not like non-stop coughing, so that's good. I think we're both not as sniffly as we were yesterday, so whatever this seems to be is passing quickly enough - I just hope it won't stay with us until the weekend.

To be safe, we'll probably go through another round of antigen tests on Wednesday morning for everyone's peace of mind or something like that.

For the sake of prudence, we're again shifting our monthly board game meet-up with friends to online just for everyone's safety. It's a bit of a bummer as there's nothing quite like in-person gaming that the online stuff will never fully capture, but this is just the way of things in terms of this "New Normal" that we're now actually in. It's a life where every cough brings an extra edge of fear to it and self-test kits are pretty much essential household supplies (provided you can afford them).

Not going to lie - I was really looking forward to this birthday feeling closer to normal than the last two given the pandemic and all, but we'll see how things go. We're aggressively taking supplements to bolster our immune systems and hopefully be well enough for at least our planned O Bar celebration on Friday night. The rest of our birthday plans can generally survive shifting online, but not that.

Google Photos has been reminding me about last year's celebrations - for which I'm particularly thankful. It was last year that some of our closer drag queen friends dedicated a part of their online drag show for my birthday and it felt like old times when we'd celebrate at O. So it's a good reminder for now - a reminder that however we decide to celebrate, whether online or offline, it'll be great.

But I'm still going to focus all my mental energies on getting better before Friday. Beyond hydration and a generous amount of vitamins and over-the-counter medication, I'm going to focus on being better because I don't feel like leaving my body any other choice. I have a birthday that I need to celebrate with good friends and Asia's finest dancing drag queens.
