02B73: O Bar Sunrises

Saturday O Bar

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 875

So we closed the bar this morning. Us ending a night at O Bar with the sun rising isn't too uncommon an occurrence. But this morning marked one of the rare times we were the very last customers at the bar. But hey, it was a good night with good company, so no regrets in that area.

Beyond being with good friends, another factor is how yesterday's weather limited patronage at the bar. It can't be helped - strong rains for most of the day make considering a night out perhaps more of a hassle than a joy. But our table of friends still made it despite the complications and I'm glad that we left the safety of the Sietch as well.

I'm going to celebrate my birthday at O Bar later this month, but I don't feel a particular urge to make it like some big thing. Don't get me wrong - I'll be happy to run into more friends while there, but I kind of also don't want to exert a lot of effort to host and entertain people either. I've experienced trying to have a big O Bar birthday before the pandemic and while it was fun, it was also a little overwhelming. a lot of my O Bar experience is focused on enjoying (and capturing) the drag shows more than anything else. So maybe we'll skip that for now or something. I'm still reflecting upon it.

I'm turning 40 years old this year and this could be a big deal (because people like round numbers) or it could just be another year. I don't have any strong feelings about it just yet, but we'll see how that notion changes in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, we have more of The Sandman to enjoy.
