02B64: Local Hero Night

Awards Night

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 860

Tonight we attended the awards gala dinner for this year's Marketing Interactive Agency of the Year Awards because our company was a finalist for Content Marketing Agency of the Year and Social Media Marketing Agency of the Year. The last time we had gone through this was in the middle of the pandemic and thus the awarding was done via a Zoom call. So it was pretty cool to be able to attend an in-person event even if we knew going in that we were up against some pretty serious competition. But this is literally why I flew in this week just to be able to join.

In terms of the event itself, it wasn't the most exciting thing I've ever attended. Given how many categories there were and how up to 4 different agencies could win per category, what we had was different judges reading out the lists of winners, waiting for the winning agency to get their picture taken on stage, and then on to the next winner. There was no time for much else aside from some odd banter from the host for the night and the dinner that came with the gala was stretched out to minimize people leaving early.

And still, it was nice to be there. We managed to go home with a trophy for the Social Media Marketing category, but we're already thinking about how to increase our chances of winning next year. The food was okay,  but it was really just the experience of being there with the team that will really linger in my head.

Tomorrow is my last full day in Singapore and we'll see how much we can cram into one day. I really shouldn't stay up too late since we have stuff in the morning, but we'll see how things go.

Oh, and I managed to finish reading Persepolis Rising (the seventh book of The Expanse). Really great stuff, as always! And the book totally helped the time pass while waiting for our awards categories hehe
