02B14: Sunday Outdoor Activity

Sunday Hike

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 764

Today is the last day of the Holy Week long weekend and I'd like to think we spent it in an interesting manner. We didn't have an Easter Egg hunt, but it was still a good wrap-up to the weekend.

Things started with another hike, but this time we weren't pressed for time. So we ended up at a different park, this being Chestnut Nature Park which has a variety of nature trails. I wasn't quite sure what to expect and only really found out where we were going as we arrived. I realize that this was the first time that I had ever gone on a proper hike apart from incidental ones as we traveled more provincial areas during beach trips or something.

Honestly, I really enjoyed the experience and I think I did okay with just my rubber shoes instead of like hiking boots. The Chesnut trails weren't particularly difficult, but one still had to be careful as different parts were still muddy or slippery. Things weren't rugged enough to keep me at a higher heart rate throughout most of the hike, but I did hit new elevation-related milestones with the uneven ground and all the ups and downs along the way. I don't think this is necessarily going to lead me to hike a lot more once we get back to Manila, but I think we'll visit these rather well-maintained paths over the coming weekends while here.

Today's big excursion was going over to the main Books Kinokuniya branch, as is a required stop for every Singapore trip. I got a crazy number of Rick and Morty comics, as is my habit when here. I also picked up some interesting Avatar-related books and this crazy Tintin-related (or more like Captain Haddock-related) one as well. And then we headed right back home.

Once again, I got to play in today's scheduled tabletop RPG session, which is nice despite being in another country. We were still down one player but we had a pretty good session regardless. I hope I can make it to the next one and that we have a full "table" again. But we'll see how things go - there are bound to be other things we'll get busy with while the family is in Singapore, so we'll just have to see.

But I hope that all you had a great weekend, whether you went on some interesting trip with your family or just stayed in be all weekend. I'm sure it was time well spent.
