Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 639
The last quarter of the year continues to be very busy on the work front, but I can't really complain. It's like this every year as the fiscal year closes and everyone's budgets for the coming year get finalized. We keep moving steadily along as we keep pace with things while also mapping out things like 13th-month payouts and company Christmas parties.
Admittedly, we have to be a little grateful. 2020 ended with a lot of uncertainty with more clients wary of starting new contracts. Things aren't quite back to our pre-pandemic normal, but it's good to have clients to actually stress out over with some new prospects coming in as well. Good problems to have and all that jazz.
I'm just 6 books shy of my end-of-year reading goal, but I'm totally behind my reading. That generally business has slowed my pace and that frustrates me a little. While I have no doubt that I'll achieve my goal, I was hoping to go well beyond it given my progress up until October. Everything started to slow down by November and this month I've barely been able to cover decent ground book-wise. I guess my brain is busy with other things or something of that nature.
One thing at a time. Maybe we're all just getting distracted trying to juggle work while looking forward to the holiday festivities just around the corner. It manifests in random ways including my inability to focus on my reading efforts and other things.
Maybe I just need a break.
