Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 372

We spent a better of the weekend playing online board games again with friends, which is still a lot of fun but never quite the same as playing together in person. There's still the challenge of finding board game apps that most if not all of us in the group all have in common in order to find things we can actually play together, but it does result in us playing games that Tobie and I don't own in our physical connection. Last night included non-collection games like Viticulture and Wingspan along with old favorites like Terraforming Mars

Terraforming Mars

It was a bit of a surprise to me that the one game that I won last night was Viticulture, a game I haven't played all that much. And that sort of balanced out the fact that I had lost all other games we had played last night - which all just speaks to the skill of the players that game with on the regular.

Viticulture: Essential Edition

Today we spent some time playing games with my brother, who has fallen off the deep end of getting into the board game hobby and got to work out using Steam RemotePlay to run through a game of Pandemic, and then we played a few rounds of the Marvel Legendary deckbuilding game through Tabletop Simulator

As we enter yet another "new" phase of our extended quarantine with seemingly neverending tweaks to the rules and regulations, it has become even more important to fully embrace these digital platforms for the board game hobby in order to find ways to continue to have fun with our friends. We all super miss spending crazy weekends together, but these online solutions help push some of the crazy feelings away.

I hope you all had a generally good weekend as well. We have a long way to go in this struggle and we'll all get through this one way or another. But it'll be a lot easier to do so with the help of our friends and those we love, and for us, that means spending time together to play all these crazy tabletop games.
