024C2: Event Considerations

Chocolate Mousse

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 182

Today we visited Tobie's mom to celebrate her birthday. It was a small gathering for immediate family and a nice effort to do something special despite the lockdown and all the stress of the past few months. There was a lot of food, most of which I couldn't eat (LOL), but in the end, it was just nice to be part of a family gathering like this. Outside of the meal, we were all in masks, which is the sad reality of the times, and even had photos taken with masks on because of course, we did.

It's weird to consider that pretty much all family gatherings for the year, even just the limited ones we decide to risk will probably be like this. Hurried gatherings with different forms of PPE on and contenting yourselves with elbow touches or waving at one another from a safe distance. And it still feels like this huge risk you're taking, but we can't completely ignore family and remain at a distance forever.

What will Christmas be like under these conditions? Will we celebrate the New Year like this?

How long is this going to go on?
