024BD: Monday Blerg

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 177

For the bulk of this seemingly endless quarantine period, Mondays are typically some of the worst days in the news cycle since our government has a tendency to update the nation on what's going on on Mondays. It's something that steps from a legal requirement baked into the emergency funding bill from earlier in the year and ever when the Bayanihan Law had lapsed, we had cemented the habit of the President needing to provide some sort of an update every week.

Today's news cycle has been particularly rough between the news of the President has given an "absolute pardon" for US Marine Lance Corporal Joseph Scott Pemberton for the murder of Jennifer Laude and the strange ongoing drama of the white sand brought over to Manila Bay, it really hasn't been a great Monday. And the President made a public statement for his COVID-19 updates and to double down on the Pemberton pardon because he tends to get defensive that way. Gotta love Mondays with this administration.

The weather has been rather bonkers over the last few days. The weekend subjected us to rather scorching, summer-levels of heat. And today the rains really came pouring down, although it made things feel more humid than comforting for most of the day. It's nicely chilly in BGC now but I can see other parts of the metropolis are still dealing with heavy rains. What's up with that?

Whenever Monday feels sucky, I figure that it just means that the rest of the week has a leg up on looking a lot better in comparison.
