0249B: Missed Affections

Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 143

Funny - didn't realize today's quarantine count would coincidentally be the "I love you" number, at least in popular Filipino parlance. Just seeing it and thinking about its silly implications distracted me from what I originally wanted to write about. Funny how life works.

It's my birthday month, and I've been thinking a LOT about missing being with friends. I actually started a thread just to talk about people I miss over on Twitter as a weird lead-up to my birthday. I'm not sure what I'm going to get out of the exercise but it's...somewhat therapeutic. I'm just focusing on good memories and reminding myself of people I value. We need to hold onto those we love in these troubling times. It's a bittersweet writing exercise, but I still think it's a good thing. It's never bad to celebrate the important people in our lives.

Still no clear idea of which online activity I'm going to indulge in for my birthday. Heck, we haven't even figured out plans for Saturday night. Oh life. I should stop overthinking this.

The first day of the renewed MECQ has been largely uneventful on the homefront. I guess it helps that Tobie and I are still pretty well supplied from the weekend and we've always been doing our best to minimize going out regardless of which level of quarantine is in effect. But from our observation of general activity outdoors, there's definitely a drastic reduction in the volume of vehicular traffic in our part of BGC. I guess Day One compliance is looking pretty good.

Otherwise, there was that odd bit about the ostrich on the loose, but whatever.
