Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 123

Today's email update from our HMO, Maxicare, indicated that 11 Metro Manila hospitals can no longer accommodate critical COVID-19 cases because they are already at capacity.

Also today, Secretary of Health Duque told the media that the Philippines had managed to flatten the curve back in April. This statement has been ridiculed across social media given the steady rise of COVID-19 cases in the country.

The daily COVID-19 case update confirmed 1,392 new cases in the country with 512 of them being "fresh" cases. That brings us to close to 59,000 cases in the country.

In a last-minute address to the nation, the President confirmed that Metro Manila will remain under GCQ for now but we may revert to MECQ should cases continue to rise at an alarming rate. This is the first time the announcement did not indicate when the current quarantine phase would end.

Long story short, things are still bad and I doubt we will leave quarantine this month or maybe even this quarter - or this year. Steady on for now. Stay safe, everyone.

  1. Wondering how Thailand was able to do it considering they have a lot of crowded areas as well.
