Metro Manila Community Quarantine - Day 77

We've been in one form of quarantine or another for 11 weeks now with only General Community Quarantine to look forward to at the start of June. For some reason, the national government is banking on China developing a vaccine for COVID-19 by September, but that doesn't feel like something we can plan our lives around.

So what does the future bring? Can we really just wait around in quarantine until a vaccine is developed? How will non-essential industries survive an even more prolonged restriction of people's movement - Just one more month? Maybe three?

The full implications of COVID-19 and what it's true long-term effects on the world are still really coming to be known. Many countries have implemented different forms of quarantine and thus the global economy is definitely bleeding out this year. Thousands or more likely millions of people around the world have lost their jobs and who knows how many companies have either shuttered entirely or are on the brink of closure?

Be thankful for what you have today and continue to hope for the best. But at the same time, be careful and plan for the worst.

590 new cases were diagnosed today, bringing our total cases to 17,224. The numbers are beginning to lose meaning as they get bigger and bigger.
