What a magical time we live in. When The Dark Crystal movie first came out in 1982, it was far from a commercial success. Folks just couldn't quite wrap their heads around how the likes of Jim Henson could come up with a story as dark and disturbing as this one.
And now we have a Netflix series that not only celebrates the unique story world of this franchise but also invested a lot into making sure it also demonstrated just how far the art of puppetry has come. As much as there are bound to be some CGI-embellishments or digital post-production to digitally erase the puppeteers, the core of this production is all about showing how beautiful such puppets can be.
This series feels like an amazing tribute to Jim Henson's vision and his unique story. And we are all fortunate to be able to share in this magic together.
