We're starting a new Vampire: The Masquerade campaign and I'm pretty excited but also sort of scared. Well scared isn't the right term - more nervous or anxious? That feeling stems not from the setting but more from the fact that I don't seem to have very good luck with longer-term Vampire games.
I'm not talking about my character's narrative arc or anything like that - we've had a lot of great moments in past games. It extends outside that more along the lines of such games never getting to the "end". Real-life pressures almost always force us to end the game prematurely without a decent sense of closure for the story. This has affected Vampire games more than any other RPG system we've played over the years for one reason or another. And only seems to happen now that I'm with Tobie - he's had quite a number of long-term Vampire games without me.
But let's remain optimistic. Maybe this new Tremere character will finally get more narrative closure and fulfillment versus my past vampires - Tzimisce, Brujah, Toreador, Nosferatu...the list goes on.
