With my sister in town part of the fun was finally exchanging Christmas presents after having shown one another our gifts via webcam over the holidays. A surprise gift for me and Tobie was a Dripo 2-in-1 iced-drip coffee maker, which ties to my love for coffee but also my relatively recent appreciation for cold brew coffee primarily based on the recommendation of my brother-in-law. It has become a fun little indulgence at times and one of my lifelines while in and out of the hospital these past few months thanks for the Starbucks at the ground floor.
The kit is surprisingly easy to use and results in a very potent brew that only takes about 2+ hours to make versus the more established 24-hour cold brew process most talk about. This makes this process a lot faster and more practical within a work day and the whole kit fits in my backpack easily enough.
We tried it out this afternoon at the office and the resulting drink was quite strong. The tumbler container that collects the coffee is large enough to accommodate enough water to dilute the cold brew enough so it's not a war in your mouth but not overly so such that it would dilute the potency. The resulting drink is nicely smooth but with a great kick and goes well with heavy cream. It's a little costly in terms of how much coffee is needed to make a serving but it's totally worth the resulting flavor profile.
This is an amazing gift. And I'm super excited for all the coffee experiments to come. Goodbye instant coffee at work!
