02334: New Year, New Friends

While Tobie and I don't have the usual New Year's Eve traditions like a big Media Noche meal or re-watching the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, we do have one sort of tradition every year. And that is heading out to O Bar after the fireworks to celebrate he new year with friends.

Over the years the people we end up celebrating with change to some extent and I suppose that somewhat reflects the state of affairs come the new year. We've gotten a number of folks to start hanging out at O Bar with us in recent months and we've also had friends drop out of circulation for one reason or another. The end result is that our gathering of friends of O Bar shifts over time as a sort of echo of our larger friendship priorities for the year.

At the end of the day I'm glad we still get to go and we still have friendly faces join us there. Such holidays are best invested in celebrating with people you value. A lot of times the New Year's celebration manages to bring out some old faces from the past as well and it always has me wondering if we'll see more of them throughout the coming year. It's not exactly an accurate barometer for the rest of the year, but it is amusing to look for potential patterns.

Hope your new year celebrations were just as fun, folks.
