HIV will always be scary, but I will go on record that cancer is still a lot scarier to me. With current HIV treatment, you can still live a pretty long and healthy life as long as you were diagnosed early enough. Cancer always feels like a battle against the inevitable where the best you can hope for is that the cancer will go into remission, but never total elimination. We don't even know why it happens - it just does and we suspect genetic predisposition and a gazillion other possible carcinogens out there including staying too close to the TV, microwaves, and all that stuff.
Cancer is a bastard. Cancer is a major bastard.
