0218F: Farewell, Goblin King

So today the news broke out that musician David Bowie had died. He had been dealing with cancer in recent years and things reached their inevitable end sooner than we'd like.

It is terribly sad news given the impact his body of work has had on the world. Beyond how memorable his music remains to be for fans, he also had other interesting ventures, most notably the movie Labyrinth. The movie is a special cultural artifact of the 1980's that was both part of the period and perhaps also defined it to some extent. He really helped make that movie as memorable as it is and it's sad to hear that he is no longer present in this world.

Then again, so many great cultural figures have passed on and we can only celebrate their works and hope that they are in a better place where their music and other creative works live on.
