The big news for today is Super Typhoon Yolanda (International Name: Haiyan), which is said to be the strongest typhoon to hit the country this year. It's main area of focus is the Visayas region, but as you can see in an earlier satellite image, the darn thing looks just about as big as the country. Thus far it has been mostly cloudy with isolated rains but Metro Manila was already declared to be under storm signal #2. The news already includes scenes of the typhoon's destruction further south and it doesn't look too pretty.
I expect the rains to get dragged into Metro Manila later today and that should make my going to work pretty interesting, to say the least. Depending on how bad the weather gets, I may need to consider not going to work at all. Nothing is final at this point - for now all that we can do is monitor the weather situation and hope for the best.
Almost the weekend. Hope things go well for everyone. We have a good number of friends directly in the typhoon's path and I certainly hope that everyone is relatively safe.
