01642: Friday Dates with Tobie

Every Friday, Tobie's car is coded, which means that he can't be out and about on major roads and all of Makati between 07:00am and 07:00pm. And since taking public transportation during rush hour on a Friday night is near madness, Tobie opts to go to work extremely early so he has his car with him. It also means that he ends up having a 12+ hour day, but that's still more favorable than Friday night commuting. It's that bad.

Whereas before Tobie would only occasionally go to work on a Friday, now it's a pretty regular thing. Thus in order to help him occupy some of the extra time waiting for the rest of his officemates to arrive, I try and meet up with him for brunch instead of going straight home. After all, there's no real rush to get back to an empty Sietch, right?

No offense meant, Yoshi.

It's a fairly lengthy walk from my office to Tobie's, but it's not like I couldn't use the exercise. Take that plus my walk from Tobie's office to the Ayala MRT station and it more than makes up for any eating that we do together. More than anything, these lunches are a decent way for us to spend a bit more time together given our seemingly increasing schedule divergence.

Relationships are not just fun and games, as much as we'd like them to be so. They're a lot of hard work and require a lot of effort in order to be successful. And when you end up with situations like ours, it also helps to be highly creative.
