Tonight we celebrate LGBT Pride with dear friends - or at least the friends who decide to join us at O Bar's Pride Party 2013 at the Ortigas Home Depot Food Street.
This marks my 10th ever Pride celebration, although in recent years it has not involved the "traditional" White Party formerly held at Malate. With the spread of LGBT-friendly establishments around Metro Manila, we're no longer limited to Malate being the only venue where queers can walk around freely without fear of humiliation or things of that nature.
It does not matter where you go tonight or which event you decide to support. What is important is that you do take the time to celebrate the freedoms that we've won so far and the fact that we still have a long way to go in the fight for equality for the LGBT community.
But we're not going to give up - we're not going to give into fear and we're not going to resort to violence or other such base actions. We're going to stay fabulous, wave our rainbow flags proudly and stand up for what we deserve as human beings.
