Today, May 17, is IDAHO - the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. It's a day that stands to remind everyone to stand up to prejudice and racial bullying given we're all human beings with equal rights.There are a lot of things that you can do today to celebrate IDAHO and show that you are an LGBT ally or a proud member of the LGBT community. These include things like:
1) Changing your profile photo to the IDAHO symbol to show your support for your LGBT friends and family
2) Liking the IDAHO Philippines page on Facebook and joining the discussion
3) Post images or blog posts that celebrate #SafeSpaces for LGBT like LGBT-friendly bars and other establishments
4) Join any of the IDAHO events such as the Tagay for IDAHO at Cubao X and share a toast against discrimination
I wish I could be more involved in today's IDAHO celebrations, but of course the demands of my job get in the way. But hey, work is work and each and every day should be a day to stand up against homophobia and transphobia right? Today's just the one day we would to shout the loudest and get more people to hear what we have to say.
