Relationships - may they be passing acquaintances, office colleagues, meaningful friendships or serious commitments - are complicated. Or maybe complicated isn't quite the best word for things but merely complex. There are so many nuances and intricacies to the human experience and bringing more than one person together in any manner involves a LOT of infinitely complex interactions of thoughts, words, actions, emotions and all that jazz.
But we do our best to chart our paths forward. This is all part of the human experience. No one ever truly has all the answers to the bigger questions in life and so we just do our best to float along and keep up with the punches life throws at us. We find our small joys and our big victories and all those happy moments that get us through the darker patches. But life endures as do we all and we find new reasons to celebrate every single day.
Tobie and I already have a complicated history together given how we began, the challenges we've surived and of course our time with Prince. Plus we have other close and seriously important friends that we tend to take under our wing, care for and nurture in our own way. We've even gone as far as becoming pseudo parents and so many other things.
I have no serious regrets. Life is what it is and we're just trying to stay afloat at times. We remain hopeful for the future and we do our best to help those who remain connected to us as friends and those who are a more than that. I guess when your love for one another is as strong as it feels between me and Tobie at times, it becomes a lot easier to share that love with others and do our part in making other people's lives better.
What I am saying really? I don't quite know myself. All I know for sure right now is that we're happy and my heart feels full of love and that I look at the various photos from the weekend with a smile on my face and joy all around. There is so much to be happy about and thankful for in this life and that I don't see how other people can devote so much of their time and energy ranting and raving about the little things that go wrong instead of celebrating all the many things that go wonderfully right.
So smile. Think of all the things that are going right in your life. It'll really help your outlook on things.
