0148A: Happy LGBT Pride!

Well, that was a rather fun LGBT Pride. The event itself managed to get underway relatively well despite quite a number of last-minute fires that had to be addressed. But at least that didn't affect the march proper, which is really the key thing here.

But apart from the march, the was also a lovely bazaar featuring a number of LGBT related items (and some awesome Sebastian's Ice Cream) and so we left the event with a rather nice haul.

In terms of the march itself, I realize that it's not quite as, well, fun without your friends. And since those among our friends who actually take the time to march were rather busy organizing and running the march this year, it left us with a less than exciting walk around Makati City. Still an important event and we definitely don't regret going and we'll certainly always try to go even if we don't know anyone else.

Oh, and our special LGBT shirts made it just in time, even though most folks did not appreciate the Journey reference.

After the march we made our way to Greenbelt for some toy hunting and to catch a movie. I wasn't really planning on buying anything, but the new wave of Transformers Kre-O Micro Changers happened to be out, and so I ended up buying them all. And that's a rather tricky feat given their sold in blind bags - however the bags have a consistent coding system which is fairly easy to figure out once you've had a chance to examine all the bags together.

Lastly, we managed to watch Cloud Atlas while at Greenbelt and the movie totally blew us away. Even though I had not slept since before my work shift Friday night, I was pretty much on the edge of my seat the whole time. Besides, the narrative was structured in such a manner that was highly complex and thus one had to pay attention the whole time.

The movie is the kind of film that you know you'll want to mull over for a few days or at least discuss with friends as you try to decipher all the messages hidden within and tease out a few more ergs of insight or even inspiration if you can. It's a brilliant film and you know that the award-giving bodies are going to be all over it soon enough. And I don't mean that sarcastically - the movie will more than deserve any awards that it manages to get in the coming season.

All in all, it was definitely a most memorable Metro Manila Pride for 2012.
