I really need to create a static location for my ever-growing bucket list of things that I absolutely want to do (in case you didn't know what a bucket list was). I have a bunch of isolated Tweets about to-do items that I think of on the fly, but I've never really put them all together in once place.
But let's talk about a few of them right now.
Become a Published Author - The first big item, naturally, is my long-running dream of becoming a try writer. And this means getting published. Earlier this year I set out to finally get around to finishing a book worth printing and going through Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing program. Naturally the past few months have been busy on a number of levels and so I haven't made much progress here.
Own Property - This is a long-running goal that remains on hold while I build up equity. And it has to be a house with actual land and not a condo - I have discussed this subject here many times indeed.
Watch All of the James Bond Movies - I know that by now many of the older movies are pretty dated. But I still want to be able to watch all of them sooner or later. It almost feels like some sort of a right of passage that we should all go through in one way or another. It's definitely one of the weirder items on this list.
Attend or Stage an Authentic Screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show - This is one of the trickier ones, I imagine, since there just isn't enough of a cult following for this movie here compared to the US. Watching The Perks of Being a Wallflower yesterday only reminded me all the more that I really want to do this some day. And if I can't travel to the US and find a screening or perhaps find a local group here, then perhaps I need to organize one myself.
Read all of the L. Frank Baum Oz Books - I know, I know, there are only 14 books in the series and this shouldn't be much of a challenge. My biggest enemy is always TIME and how I end up prioritizing more recent books over these ones. And for one reason or another, I still haven't read any of the books. But at least I already have copies of them on my Kindle.
See All Smithsonian Museums - There's something about the Smithsonian Institute that always stands out for me. Of all the museums in the world, it remains to be the one that I want to see the MOST. And that means wanting to see the big ones like the Air and Space Museum and the and of course The Castle itself. It'll probably take more than a single trip, but I really think that one day I'll get this done.
Get Legally Married in the Philippines - And this is the biggest one of them all - and the one least likely to happen. Our strange propensity to identify as a Catholic country continues to strongly influence local legislation and prevent even the most basic of anti-discrimination laws from getting passed. And I don't want to have to travel to some other country only to get married in name just to come home to the Philippines and live with that marriage not recognized here. This is definitely something worth fighting for and I foresee myself dedicating the latter years of my life to really, really fighting for it. I only say latter since I know we have other legal hurdles to get past before we get even close to that goal.
