0139A: About Things That Come In Threes

One of my stranger OCD-like behaviors is an affinity for the number three. It's not my "favorite" number - that's still #8, however it's a number that, um, feels safe. It's hard to explain what I mean precisely, but it's just a thing that I keep returning to.

It's like how I can appreciate prime numbers and yet I never feel fully comfortable with the likes of 19 for some reason. I just have a weird relationship with numbers in this manner.

I like giving three examples in a presentation or being able to insert three bullet points at a time. I like to keep the volume setting on the TV on multiples of 3 (although multiples of 5 are also acceptable). When I buy paper books I also tend to buy them in threes and multiples thereof.  The examples just go on and on - I just keep returning to threes.

Is this why my current relationship appeals to me? Hard to say, really. I still think it can work as long as the three of us continue to put in the effort, although it's definitely not an easy path to undertake.

We have more than our fair share of ups and downs, highs and lows - so on and so forth. We've overcome a lot of struggles and yet there are situations that we keep returning to time and time again as well. It can get pretty frustrating and we all end up standing far too close to the edge for comfort more than I'd like. But we still manage to walk away and find a new way forward.

But this is my relationship - this ASA Family as we call it. It promises to be a great many things should it work out fully - and I mean by this is assuming we all work through (or at least past) our issues and address the greater future awaiting all of us.

But I'd be lying if I said this was a sure thing. We all have our fears to face and our doubts to quell. It's not an easy journey - but nothing truly of value can ever be considered easy either. So we do our best and try to focus on the positive more than anything else.

I really hope this is it.
