0135C: Not Quite a News Roundup

We talk TV - Do you talk TV?
I could talk about Manny Pacquiao's statements against gay marriage and how he had been misquoted as wanting us all dead because of our wicked lives. I mean seriously, we could discuss his responsibilities not just as a public figure but as a Congressman and thus a representative of our government and all that. Heck, I could go digging through Leviticus and show some of the ridiculous statements there that the Bible-thumpers prefer to ignore as they focus instead on the few ones that seem to be about the LGBT community. But I won't - at least not here. I think I'll save that for Sunday's Geeky Guide post instead. Or something like that.

I could dip my fingers into the on-going impeachment trial and how all the recent revelations related to the millions upon millions of dollars that have been linked to CJ Corona by the AMLC, as revealed by the Ombudsman. Beyond the indeed staggering number of 82 dollar accounts across 5 banks (and multiple branches thereof) seems hard to swallow, the sheer gall of this all seems hard to swallow. And yet Corona remains adamant that he's being framed somehow and all these allegations are wrong and I really don't feel like diving into all this right now.

Heck, I'd much rather talk about more positive news like yet another study claiming coffee drinkers may live longer, the fact that an FDA panel has unanimously approved further testing /review for the first home HIV test or the fact that May 17 is also the International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia (IDAHO). However I'm also tired from another busy work day and I feel like I have so many other things that I need to get done.

But really, why is the news so depressing / annoying / depressing / frustrating almost all the time? Really? Can't we focus on happier news instead? Or is there so little of that going on?
