0131D: Opposing Schedules and Longer Term Dreams

The Sietch is mostly quiet right now except for the unusual drone of Christopher Walken reading Where the Wild Things Are via a YouTube video. Seriously, it's what I have playing right now. Poy-Poy is settled in a corner beside the door, right next to Prince's performance boots. He mostly dozes and lazes around in the morning when we're home together - his body clock seems centered around the times Prince typically arrives home. And that makes sense of course - Poy-Poy is primarily his dog after all and Tobie and I are still in that getting-to-know-you stage that all dogs go through with new companions.

Poy-Poy has become my daytime companion when I'm pretty much home alone at the Sietch. Given I'm the only one who works at night while both Tobie and Prince work in the day (yet occasionally visit O Bar mid-week), the current arrangement of our schedules leaves me somewhat separate from my two darling boyfriends, at least during the day. But there's no way around it - I still need to get enough sleep in the afternoon for my next work shift in the evening, and it's just as well since they're both busy at their respective offices until around 07:30 - 08:00pm.

Do I feel bad about that? Well that's avoidable to completely get away from. My schedule frustrates me since I do end up operating on a different phase of reality (in a geeky manner of speaking), but at least we have the weekends to look forward to together.  I can't really question my job at the moment since I enjoy the challenge of the work, I'm paid pretty well  and the company has done a lot over the years to take care of me. I'd be hard-pressed to find a better job that what I have now, although something that offers similar pay and afternoon flex hours would be ridiculously (and perhaps almost impossibly) amazing. Ah well, but a guy can dream, can't he?

In the meantime, I return to my usual mantra of "work is work" - which translates into the reminder that work remains the thing that we do to make sure the bills are paid and that we have enough money to celebrate life and save up for bigger dreams. And for the other stuff, at least I can cuddle with Poy-Poy a bit in case things get too quiet over here.

And right on cue, Poy-Poy appears perched on my lap, hehe. Aww cuteness.

Speaking of dreams, we've been bouncing around a number of ideas for the future. Those who read this blog already know about my goals of becoming a published author some day. Prince obviously has his goals of putting up his own travel agency - a goal that appears to be becoming more and more of a reality in recent weeks. Tobie wants to get back into making movies and other creative pursuits.

On the other hand, there are even more dreams out there that are fun to contemplate over and consider. Tobie brought up the idea of getting into some food cart franchise business and eventually growing it into a full restaurant and maybe one day a larger franchise empire. Or there's the thought of me putting up some big social media marketing consultancy group and really work on this side of my career.

Or there are the other dreams that aren't so linked to work like owning a house and lot as a family, finding a way to get married such that we are recognized as such in the eyes of the law. Or how about retiring to a farm full of different dogs including quite a number of golden retrievers and of course the generous progeny of Poy-Poy (I'm sure he's going to do really well in that department.) The list goes on and on and on.

It's always fun to map out dreams with your loved ones. You never really know what you might end up with. But sometimes you'll be more surprised with just how realistic some of your ideas may be and how with the help of others you stand a much better chance of making those dreams seem that much more real.

So what dreams do you have? Don't you want to feel like they're not such far-off impossibilities but instead things just within reach - provided someone gives you a boost? Well that's what I feel at times, especially when I'm with Tobie and Prince. And that makes all the difference.
